New Year wishes to our readers from all of us at Cogzidel!! Many of us have the habit of taking up resolutions in the new year. The beginning of a new year initiates the necessity of certain legal compliances apart from our own resolutions!! One such legal compliance is with respect to labour – displaying the list of holidays for the year in a conspicuous place of the organisation after getting it approved from the labour department.

According to the The Tamilnadu Shops and Establishments Act, 1947, any organisation that employs people is required to maintain a set of registers such as attendance registers, wage register, etc at the premises of business. Similarly, there are a set of forms to be filled up and displayed in a conspicuous place at the premises of business so that the employees of the organisation are well aware of the provisions of various statutes that govern their protection

The basic idea of maintaining such registers and displaying these forms is to ensure that the benefits and protective clauses that apply to employees of the organisation are provided to them.. These provisions also intend to regulate working hours of employees working in an organisation, apart from child labour, cleanliness, ventilation and lighting of place of work, payment of minimum wages and the like

Since the year has just begun, a list of holidays shall be filled up in the prescribed form and submitted to the labour department of the particular zone for their records.. A copy of the same needs to be displayed on the notice board at the place of business where it is visible for all employees working in the organisation.. Advance intimation of the holidays for the year will also help employees to plan their leave availment accordingly.

It is always better for all organisations to get registered under  The Tamilnadu Shops and Establishments Act, 1947 and ensure that all the registers are maintained and all prescribed notices and forms are displayed on a notice board.

For any assistance with respect to labour compliance, please do contact us at info@cogzidel.in and we will be glad to help
