A marriage in Chennai can be registered under Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu registration of Marriages Act, 2009. Registration has to be done at the Registrar’s Office according to the area in which the marriage hall is located.

Procedure to be followed:

Following documents to be submitted to respective Registrar office at the time of registering a Marriage

1.Form II – Application for filing Memorandum of Marriage
2.Appendix- Form I – Memorandum of Registration of Marriage

– To be filled by respective Bride & Groom
– 2 sets of forms to be submitted

3.Court fee stamp of Rs.5/- to be affixed in each form.
4.Passport size photos of Bride and Groom to be affixed in photo page and signature.
5.The respective priest has to sign the form before/after the marriage.
6.A letter to be obtained from Marriage hall duly signed by the Manager with seal (Template Attached here below)
7.Marriage Invitation Card to be attached
8.Age & Address proof of Bride & Groom (original & photocopy)
9.Witnesses ID & Address proof ( Original & Photocopy)
10.Process Time: 5 Working days
11.Government Fees of Rs. 110/- to be paid at the time of collecting the Certificate.
