If you are a salaried employee and if your employer is covered under Provident Fund Act, you must be aware that the PF amount is deducted every month from your salary and it is remitted to your PF account (along with employer’s contributions as well) as maintained by your employer with the PF department.

At some point in time, you will be curious to know the balance available on your provident fund account for many reasons like –

– just as general information of how much you have saved so far

– you might be willing to avail a loan out of your PF balance (like marriage loan, housing loan, person loan and so on)

– you intend to quit your job and want to know how much PF monies you would be getting after you quit, so that you could have your financial plan accordingly

The PF department normally sends the “Statement of Account” of all employees to the employer’s registered address, after the financial year is over. It means, you will have to wait to see the available balance in your PF account till such time.

Recently, the PF department introduced a new system of letting the public to know the available PF balance through online (and the information will be delivered to your mobile phone as a text / SMS). Pls note that the organisations who have their own PF trust, will not have this facility. Only those organisations which maintains the PF accounts with the PF department only can avail this facility as of now.
